Super Affiliate Lesson #1:
PPC SECRETS OF THE GOOGLE
ADWORDS CONTENT NETWORK

Hope you're doin' awesome.

Today we're going to focus on how to use Google Adwords, specifically the CONTENT NETWORK to get massive traffic and dirt cheap clicks.

Most Adwords books or "gurus" will tell you to stay away from running ads on the content network because of low conversion rates, or click fraud or whatnot.

Well, let me tell you something...

Don't Listen To These Idiots!

What I've found is that in several markets (including internet dating), you can use the content network successfully...VERY successfully to get MASSIVE traffic for cheap and CRUSH IT.

In fact, I use this very same method in several markets to generate hundreds and even thousands of clicks per day for not only IID, but several other affiliate eBooks and Clickbank products... so I know it works.

Before we get started on how to quickly setup one of these campaign for IID, you should have some basic understanding of how to set up an run an Adwords campaign, or else a lot of what I'm going to tell you will seem like I'm speaking greek.

Okay, I'll be making recommendations here on certain settings in the campaign you'll be setting up. These are as important as the method itself, so please take note. Here's how it works:

Set Up Your Campaign

First, you set up a Keyword Targeted campaign in your Adwords account - Not a Placement Targeted campaign, as most Content network campaigns are. We need to set it up as a Keyword Targeted Campaign.

Give it a name, then set your daily budget at $100. Note: Google gives preference to those who have higher daily budgets than those who have lower ones...

...next, set the delivery method of your ads to "Accelerated". This will show your ads as quickly as possible.

The 2 MAJOR Settings You
Must Make To Your Campaign:

1. Turn ON the Content Network by checking the "Content Network" box, and turn OFF the rest of the networks by un-checking the "Google Search", "Search Network", and "Content Bids" boxes.

This will show your ads on the Content Network only.

2. Split up your area targeting BY COUNTRY for the major traffic areas, and perhaps by tiers for the rest of the world.

This means a separate campaign for US, UK, CA, AU, etc. This will allow you to be laser focused on click prices and maximize your traffic and revenue. It's a bit more work, but most affiliates won't do this.

Think it's worth it? You bet.

Also, duplicate your campaigns but just change the targeting to various countries around the world, while keeping your targeting language as English.

Note: We've found poor conversions from a few countries over the past year or so...so you may want to delete these countries from your targeting: China, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Alright, those are the basic settings of this campaign. The next thing we need to do is get our adgroups and the keywords for those adgroups. Here's how we do it:

The key here is to start with 10-20 adgroups, each of which represents a different broad theme. With this type of campaign, Google will look at the keywords in each adgroup, along with the ad copy and the landing page, and give your adgroup a theme.

It will then go out and place your ads on web pages it think are relevant to that theme. So for IID, some of the themes you can try are fairly obvious:

Dating advice
Online Dating
Girlfriend
Flirting

Each of these themes would be its own adgroup. You can also get more specific with themes like "online dating personals" but, I've found it is just overkill and won't contribute much to the overall campaign. Stick with bigger themes as noted above.

Now, to get more adgroups/themes, you can use the free Google Keyword Tool (located in your account). Just enter 'online dating' or another broad 1-2 keyword phrase and hit submit. Scroll past the top list of results and go to the bottom list where the tool gives you other related words.

This is where you can get other related 1-2 keyword themes to create new adgroups on... like 'attraction' or 'pickup artist'.

Remember, we're just after related audiences in the content network... we want our ad in front of men who want to meet women online... so try creating adgroups along that type of thinking. For instance, try creating some adgroups around themes that men who want to meet women are into... like sports or computer stuff.

Okay, now that you've got your adgroups... the next step is to get the keywords for each of these adgroups. There are two ways to do this that I would recommend:

1. Use your intuition. Pick about 3-10 1-2 keyword phrases that best describe the theme, or that would appear on the types of web pages you want the ad to show up on.

Example: Adgroup is dating tips. Keywords could be: dating tips, internet dating tips, tips to meet women.

That's it! There is really no need to get more specific than that.

2. Go to google.com and enter your adgroup theme keyword in the search bar and hit it. Take a look at the most common words that appear in results you get. Go ahead and grab 5-10 of the most common words and stick 'em in your adgroup.

Write Your Ads

Next, it's time to write a compelling ad that gets clicks. Any ol' ad will get some clicks, but good ads will get you buyers. There are several approaches here, but two of the best ad styles I've ever used for IID are:

1. The "Personal, Blog" Style Ad

This is where you write your ad like it's being spoken on a person to person basis, so it doesn't look so much like an ad. Here's an example ad that I use very successfully. If you decide to use it, please create YOUR OWN version... don't copy the ad exactly... that will just water down both of our results.

Big Dating Secret
I used to be a alone and single
until I found this 1 secret.
InsiderInternetDating.com

See how it doesn't look so much like an ad? This helps you get more clicks. The message about finding "1 secret" is also a great one because when someone hits the IID sales letter, they're look for... you guessed it... what that 1 secret is! This typically keeps them on the page longer and reading more...which leads to more sales and commissions for you.

Also, you can't list InsiderInternetDating.com as your display domain, since Google is really cracking down on multiple ads using the same display domain on the Content Network... they'll just suspend your ads. So... go ahead and get your own domain and simply forward it to your IID affiliate link.

EASY!

2. The "Shocker" Personal Ad

The other type of ad I really find pulls in sales is similar to the 1st type, in that it still comes across as person to person, but this one has more shock value to it.

Pickup Artists Suck
Get real - pickup artists tricks
don't work but this gets women fast.
InsiderInternetDating.com

Again, don't copy these ads exactly... write YOUR OWN ads... just use these as a guide.

Lastly, regarding ads, because your running your ads on webpages and not on the Google search results, you can afford to run the EXACT SAME ad for just about every adgroup if you'd like.

Write the ad about what IID will do for them.

Alright, finally, you'll need to set your max bid prices. Set these up at the Adgroup level, not the keyword level. You're not bidding on keywords here. My advice is to start at about 10-20 cents per click for the main countries like US, AU, UK, CA, etc., but 5-10 cents for the countries with smaller english speaking populations. You'll get a lot of traffic fast, but at this price per click, the campaign may only break even.

BUT...

This is important because if you start out too low, you'll have trouble getting any ads shown at first. So, run it for 2-3 days, then drop your max bid a bit for 2 more days. Then, drop it a bit more and see if you're still getting a good number of clicks.

At this point, you can try even lower bid prices and see how the traffic is. Many affiliates who are using this method, find they can get close to doubling their money at this point. Now it's just a matter of create more adgroups/themes to generate more traffic.

And once you have this campaign rocking (usually after a couple of weeks) there is little to do to manage it. You don't have to check keywords everyday. Yes, you will want to keep an eye on the sites you're being placed on and weed out sites that are not converting or giving you tons of impressions but few clicks, but this is as close to a "set it and forget it" type of PPC campaign as I've ever seen.

One Last & Very Important
Thing...Tracking

You'll also want to track your ads and adgroups to see where your sales are coming from. It is not necessary or helpful to track this type of campaign at the keyword level because we're not bidding on keywords.

The best tracking PPC tracking system I know of is http://www.prosper202.com/

Oh and it's free :-)

Okay, that's it. Those are the nuts and bolts of this powerful type of campaign. So get started with your own Content Network campaign for FBF...and let the flood of cheap traffic and sales begin.

Good luck!
